India is moving from a myriad of taxes to a simple goods and services tax (GST). All commercial establishments and sellers are required to get a GST certificate and GSTIN ( a GST tax identification number).
From now on, in compliance with government’s guidelines we will require you to submit your GSTIN at the time of submitting documents for an upgraded account. We will need a copy of your GST certificate. In case you are unable to send it, we need your GSTIN. This also means that you no longer have to submit a VAT or other tax certification for all charges that are being replaced by GST.
If you are an existing merchant on Paytm, we will send you a google form and there you must submit your GSTIN. We will verify the certificate on our own after that. We need this at the soonest so that we can all slowly transition into the new tax.
