How to update your phone number on Paytm

This article will help you update your phone number on Paytm across different scenarios. Read on to know more.


Scenario 1: I have access to old phone number & new phone number is not yet registered on Paytm


Thinking about updating your phone number on Paytm app? Don’t worry! It’s extremely easy to update a new number on Paytm app, if you have access to your old phone number. We have simplified the process for you below:


Step 1: Login to Paytm with your old phone number

Step 2: On the home screen, click on “☰” at the top left corner

Step 3: Click on profile (where you see your name)

Step 4: Click on ‘Update Phone Number’

Step 5: Go to the mobile number field and enter the new mobile number you want to update and click ‘Save'

Step 6: Enter the 6 digits OTP received on your registered mobile number followed by the 6 digit OTP received on new mobile number for verification


Your new phone number will get updated. It’s that easy!


Scenario 2: I have access to old phone number & new phone number is already registered on Paytm OR I do not have access to my old phone number


We want your Paytm app to run as smooth as possible. If you think that loosing access to your old phone number/having new phone number already registered on Paytm can be problematic while updating your number on Paytm app then think again as this can be a cakewalk for you!


Follow the steps below and experience it yourself:


Step 1: Open the Paytm App

Step 2: On the home screen, click on “☰” at the top left corner

Step 3: Go to 24×7 help

Step 4: Go to ‘Profile Settings’

Step 5: Enter your old Paytm phone number

Step 6: Select ‘I want to update my phone number’

Step 7: Select ‘I have stopped using my registered phone number and don’t have access to it’

Step 8: Click on ‘Message us’ to raise a request

Step 9: Fill the form with the following details for old number:


Snapshot of anyone one of the following:


a. Debit/Credit card statement reflecting transactions done from your paytm account

b. Confirmation email or SMS received for transactions done on your Paytm account

c. Proof of phone number ownership (i.e. Mobile bill in case of postpaid)

d. Police complaint proof against lost or stolen phone

e. If your account is KYCed, please share linked KYC documents


Step 10: In case new number is already registered on Paytm, then provide the following details for the new number:


Snapshot of anyone one of the following:


a. Debit/Credit card statement reflecting transactions done from your paytm account

b. Confirmation email or SMS received for transactions done on your Paytm account

c. Proof of phone number ownership (i.e. Mobile bill in case of postpaid)

d. If your account is KYCed, please share linked KYC documents


We will verify the details provided by you and update your phone number.
