Here are the possible cases when a customer’s money gets deducted but the train booking doesn’t get confirmed:
A. If your payment was deducted and you were taken to IRCTC page to enter your IRCTC password:
- You clicked on the “Cancel” button on IRCTC page and are taken to Paytm’s ‘Booking summary’ page for the booking. The status there shows “Booking Pending”. Here, you would see that the booking status on Paytm’s ‘Booking Summary’ page for that booking will change to “Booked Failed” and refund would be initiated to your source account (s) within 15 mins
- After entering the password on IRCTC page, you are taken to the ‘Booking Summary’ page for the booking and the status there shows “Booking Pending”. In this case, we have not yet received the booking status from IRCTC. You are advised to wait for 15 mins to know the booking status. If at the end of 15 mins the booking is not confirmed on IRCTC then the status on the ‘Booking summary’ page will change to “Booking Failed” and refund would be immediately initiated to your source account(s)
- After entering the password on ISRCTC page, you are taken to our ‘Booking Summary’ page for the booking and the status there shows “Booking Failed”. Here, you would be able to see the reason for booking failure. At the end of 15 mins, refund would be initiated to your source account(s)
- After entering the password on IRCTC page you face issues on the IRCTC page. In this situation, we shall keep checking with IRCTC for your booking status every 2 mins. If at the end of 15 mins the booking is not confirmed on IRCTC then the status on ‘Booking summary’ page will change to “Booking Failed” and refund would be immediately initiated to your source account(s)
B. If your payment was deducted and you were not taken to IRCTC page to enter your IRCTC password:
Please go to the booking summary page and follow the steps below:
- Go to ‘My Orders’
- Locate the appropriate booking
- Open the booking
If the payment status shows pending, this means that Paytm has not received the payment from your bank/card etc. You are advised to check with your bank in such situations.
C. If you have received a ‘Retry’ notification with a message that your booking had failed in the first attempt or the status on the ‘Booking Summary’ page shows that you can retry booking:
- If you have retried booking but still seeing a “Booking Pending” status on the ‘Booking Summary’ page, you are advised to wait for 15 mins to know the booking status. If at the end of 15 mins the booking is not confirmed on IRCTC then the status on the ‘Booking Summary’ page will change to “Booking Failed” and refund would be immediately initiated to your source account(s)
- If you did not retry booking, the booking status on booking summary page shall change from “Booking Pending” to “Booking Failed” within 10 minutes and the refund to your source account(s) would be initiated immediately
